Back For More

Things have been interesting in these past few years. I was busting so much ass to keep my business afloat, that I really didn't have much time for a lot of side projects, like blogging or having much fun. Ironically, the more time and effort I put into keeping my business going, the faster it seemed to spiral down into oblivion. Having partners is like being married; you have to both be committed to working towards common goals, and willing to do more for each other and for the others associated with the business, in order to make it work. As of 11 months ago, I was forced to shut down and walk away. The stress was overwhelming for me, and I needed to not have so many gray hairs. I started my own painting company - all on my own. Not only did I not have to worry about pansy emps who 'didn't feel like working' or were too busy to go to work, now I only have myself to worry about and deal with. Less stress, like I said. It's rather nice to have more freedom too. Ahhhhh, just let me soak up this bliss. A few other happenings and goings on: we had another kid become an adult. Scary, but whattya do? Kids need to grow up too. Fortunately for her, she is very self-assured and knows what she wants in life. She has goals and a plan, and is thinking of her future. Our oldest moved out about a year and a half ago. Granted, it's just down the road from us, but she is making her way in the world today! Since we last talked, we had acquired a beagle/dachsund mix puppy. We had him for about a year, when Amy decided to bring home 2 white chihuahua puppies. Yes, they're cute. Yes, they're fun. Yes, they are great lap dogs. But they poop and pee everywhere! Good God! If they don't go outside every couple of hours, the carpet gets destroyed. Stupid dogs. I've always been a cat person anyway. I've grown up surrounded by upwards of 30 cats between my home, grandma's home, and other family members. With that said, my wife brought home a beautiful calico kitten for my birthday because I'm overwhelmed by yipping dogs that bark at the slightest sound. I named her Kiera, and she is the first cat I've had since my last calico cat died 10 years ago. She is a bundle of energy and full of spunk! She already has almost died multiple times by being too curious. She jumped off a ledge and missed he destination and fell about 15 feet down onto the steps. She has shown no aftereffects of injury though. When she sleeps on my lap, she has the cutest little purr! I love her lots. 3 days ago marked the 10th year since my dad has passed. Stomach cancer had eaten him up from the inside, and he's now in a much better place, with no suffering anymore. RIP, Dad... More to come later. Peace out, Erik
