Enter the Legend

Well, not exactly. It was just a title to grab your attention and suck you into the whirlpool of oblivion, also known as my blog.

I have blogged about things for a few years now. I rarely get many comments or views, but it's not a big deal. It's more of a chronicled journal of happenings that have captured my interest enough to type them in a blog. If you feel like commenting or ripping me, by all means, have at it. A little consternation every now and then keeps things lively.

I have been thinking about writing stories for many years now. I am told I have a gift at putting words on paper and captivating audiences. Not that I desire attention or fame or even oodles of money, I just like to write from the heart and see where the story goes. I had a couple poems published a few years back, right around the time my dad passed away, which more often than not, bring a tear to my eyes. I was inspired by the struggles he and my wife's mother went through before they both died. I will add them to this post.

Death of a Beloved

Immeasurable pain;
My eyes deceive.
You're only sleeping right?
Memories remain;
I still believe
You'll be waking up tonight.
Confusion and sorrow;
What can I do?
I'm feeling all alone.
There's no tomorrow.
I need you
Here, where you are known.
It's not fair!
You've left behind
Distraught family and friends.
I still care,
Though life's been unkind.
My heart needs time to mend.
My love for you won't end.

Empty Inside

My father gazes into the shadows.
Long, black tendrils reach out to beckon.
Solitude and despair are his only friends.
Sinking into nothingness, his will to live
Is swallowed up by a massive void.
The Reaper waves his sickle and laughs;
Counting down on his victim's time clock.
The final hour draws inevitably near;
Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock.
I watch in horror, paralyzed, as
Comprehension sinks in.
All possible options have been exhausted.
"The cancer has spread too far, I'm afraid."
As the tears burst forth in bunches, I long
For days of innocence and promises of life.
My anguish knows no boundaries.
My heart explodes. The mist settles.
All that remains is emptiness.

You Are Loved

In good times, or bad.
If you're happy or sad,
Remember, there's love,
from Heaven above.
When you're all stressed,
apathetic, depressed;
Remember there's love,
from Heaven above.
Make sure that you pray;
That pain will go away.
And, remember, there's love
From Heaven above.

If you care to rate the preceding poems, go for it. I could use some feedback to see if I can improve on certain aspects of my writing.

I would like to move forward and begin writing some sci-fi or suspense thrillers or even fantasy fiction. I have always been fascinated with things deemed impossible by human standards, and love to read about them; and would like to incorporate these kinds of ideas into a story format.

If there are any other writers that happen to read this, do me a favor, will you? I would like to know the process you use as you write a novel or story. Do you make an outline, complete with main incidences and character references? Do you just start typing and go with it? I tend to get stuck after the first few chapters, and would like to know if there is a good way to refrain with brainlock. Thanks for any input either way. As always, I appreciate any forms of help and/or advice.

Take care.
